About the API Tester

A lightweight HTTP client that runs in your browser. Build a request with a method, URL, query parameters, headers and body, add authentication, send it and inspect the status, headers and response body. You can export the request as a cURL command.

How to use it

1. Choose a method (GET, POST, PUT, PATCH or DELETE) and enter the URL.
2. Add query parameters, headers and, for POST, PUT and PATCH, a JSON body.
3. Optionally add Bearer, Basic or API key authentication.
4. Press send and read the response, or copy the request as cURL.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my request fail with a network or CORS error?

Requests are sent from your browser, which enforces CORS. If the API does not allow cross-origin requests from this site, the browser blocks the response. Test those APIs from a server or with cURL, or use an API that sends the right CORS headers.

Is my API key or token sent to Octodius?

No. The request goes directly from your browser to the API you entered. Still, avoid pasting long-lived production secrets into any web page.

Can I use this instead of Postman?

It covers quick checks and debugging. For saved collections, environments and team sharing, a desktop client is a better fit.
